As a writer, one of the most discouraging elements of publication is all of the marketing involved. The fact that most traditional publishers look for what sells over the quality and value of a manuscript has often kept me from wanting to write. I’d sit down to write the passion of my soul and then toss the pen down with a discouraged, “Why bother!”

I started blogging as an outlet. And then, some of my blog posts started coming together into possible book concepts. Then, one day, the idea of an ebook began to germinate in my mind.

When Sarah Mae, the author of the astoundingly successful 31 Days to Clean ebook, announced that she needed reviewers for her new ebook How to Market and Sell Your Ebook, I was ecstatic. And after reading her ebook, I felt totally liberated.

All of my fears were addressed. Her tips and advice were both practical and empowering. While some books on the topic are very discouraging for someone just getting started, her approach was  ”you can do it and here’s how.”

Sarah Mae’s ebook is focused solely on the marketing aspect, so if you are looking for a DIY manual for ebook publication, this is not your book. However, she does give a ton of practical information on pricing, marketing in Amazon, setting up a promotional website and domain, as well as helpful recommendations of websites and designers to help with the actual publication of your project. She also provides an estimate of expenses and ideas for offsetting those costs.

So what am I working on?

I have two projects. The first is a devotional and study guide on Proverbs 31. The second is a complement to the Warrior Prayers from Brook McGlothlin—an ebook on praying for daughters.

Have some ideas that you’ve been knocking around for awhile? Want a copy of Sarah Mae’s How to Market and Sell Your Ebook? On Friday, I’ll be hosting a giveaway of a free copy, thanks to Sarah Mae’s generosity. So be sure to come back for your chance to enter and win!

  • Disclaimer: I received a free copy to review and a second to giveaway; however, I was not compensated for my opinions of the book. All opinions are my own.
